An Ancient Economy

Not the most grabbing title, I grant you – but this week I’m posting an article on just that. The Legendary Economy doffs its cap to the classic White Dwarf articles back in issues 29&30 about building a Quasi-Medieval society for D&D. Ultor (whose blog is on the Rune Under Water link from this site) reminded me of their existence some time back and I drafted an article for a RQII fanzine that never saw the light of day (neither the fanzine nor the article). So here it is, buffed up for general use, and here on the AoT site because when you get your hands on the AoT Companion you’ll notice a lot of this stuff has informed the content of that book – the Money chapter in particular contains a lot of work on pricing goods and services that springs out of stuff presented here.

A very useful resource, and tremendously interesting in general terms, as well. This will be a great addition to any RPGer’s library. Thanks.

Really nice! Well written, intresting & informative and unfortunately the sort of info that gets forgotten about in the usual fantasy rpg fare. So thanks very much for posting it.

I wish economics had been this much at school.
